Build the Ultimate Fall Snack Board
There are snack boards.
And then there are fall snack boards.
The kind with warm cider on the side, crisp apples, caramel you keep finding new things to dip into it, and a giant bowl of warm Butter Luxe popcorn sitting right in the middle.
This one is basically everything we want to eat on a chilly fall night, all piled onto one board.

No tiny meat roses required.
START WITH BUTTER LUXE
Every board needs an anchor.
Ours is popcorn.
Make a big batch of Butter Luxe and give it prime real estate in the center of the board. It's rich, extra buttery, and salty enough to balance all the sweeter things happening around it.
Want to switch it up?
Super Butter or Fancy Butter work beautifully here too.
Or go with two bowls of popcorn: Butter Luxe for the buttery side of the board and Pumpkin Spice for a little cinnamon-spiced fall situation.
Highly encouraged.
ADD SOMETHING CRISP
Apples, two ways.
Instead of choosing one apple, use two.
Try Honeycrisp for sweetness and Granny Smith for that tart bite that works especially well with caramel.
Slice them thinly and fan them around the board.
Tiny squeeze of lemon if you're prepping ahead.
MAKE THE DIP WORTH HANGING AROUND
Salted Caramel Dip
Caramel and apples are obvious.
Caramel and Butter Luxe popcorn?
Less obvious. Possibly even better.
Warm your favorite caramel sauce and finish it with a pinch of flaky sea salt.
Set out little skewers or toothpicks if you want people to pretend they're not going to dip popcorn into it with their fingers.
BRING IN THE CRUNCH
Maple Candied Pecans
This is where we'd skip the basic mixed nuts.
Go with pecans tossed with maple, brown sugar, a pinch of cinnamon, and salt, then roast them until glossy and crisp.
They add sweetness without making the whole board feel like dessert.
And yes, scattering a few directly into the popcorn bowl is allowed.
ADD SOMETHING SHARP
Aged Cheddar
A few chunks of sharp cheddar keep the board from leaning too sweet.
Cheddar + apple is already a fall classic.
Cheddar + Butter Luxe popcorn deserves to be.
Use a really sharp white or aged cheddar and cut it into irregular chunks rather than neat little cubes. It looks better and requires less effort, which is a win on both counts.
SOMETHING A LITTLE JAMMY
Add a small dish of fig butter or apple butter.
Spread it onto cheddar.
Swipe an apple slice through it.
Or put a little cheddar + fig butter on a cracker and follow it immediately with a handful of popcorn.
We're not here to micromanage.
FILL THE GAPS
Now you can add the little things that make the board look ridiculously abundant:
-
Dried figs or apricots
-
Dark chocolate squares
-
Cinnamon cookies or gingersnaps
-
Fresh grapes
-
Pretzel twists
-
Dried cranberries
-
Rosemary sprigs for absolutely no practical reason other than they look very fall
You don't need all of them. Pick two or three.
AND THEN THERE'S THE CIDER
Warm Spiced Apple Cider
Put a pot on the stove with:
-
Apple cider
-
Cinnamon sticks
-
Orange slices
-
A few whole cloves
-
Star anise, if you have it
Let it warm gently while you build the board.
Your house will smell like you've been doing something impressive for hours.
You have not.
Perfect.
HOW TO PUT IT ALL TOGETHER
Start with your Butter Luxe popcorn in a large bowl right in the middle.
If you're adding Pumpkin Spice, put it in a second, slightly smaller bowl on the opposite side.
Then add the caramel and fig or apple butter in small dishes.
Fan out the apple slices, add chunks of cheddar, make little piles of candied pecans, and use your extra snacks to fill in the spaces.
The goal is not perfection.
The goal is for someone to look at it and immediately start eating.
